Season Wrap-up

KIUA Sports's picture

The spring sports seasons came to an end this past weekend.  All 3 of the teams competed in their respective tournaments.

At the HS boys' baseball tournament the team displayed great teamwork and finished in 4th place.  It was a great learning experience for the team as there were many first-year players on the team.  Congratulations to the team for their strong finish.

The MS boys' volleyball team had 2 teams competing in their tournament.  The A team played hard and improved over last year's finish by coming in 4th place.  The B team had a great tournament finishing in 3rd place.  Congratulations to both teams.

The MS girls' softball team displayed great heart and sportsmanship at their tournament.  This season was short for them and they worked hard to play into the A division for the tournament.  There was some strong competition at the tournament and the girls did great by finishing 4th out of 8 teams.  KIUA's Ami Tokuda came away with the individual honor of "Throwing Champion" by winning the tournament throwing contest.  Congratulations to all the girls.

Saturday, April 15 saw both the MS boys volleyball and MS girls softball teams in action.

In the morning the boys faced off against the Bulldogs of Marist Brothers.  In an exciting 3 set match, the Bulldogs A team were able to pull off the win.  The Flames showed a lot of improvement from their first game.  In the B game, the Bulldogs once again showed their strength winning in 2 straight sets.

The afternoon session featured the lady Flames taking on the Dolphins of Nagoya International School.  The rain held off long enough for the two teams to play a game and a half of softball.  In the first game, the lady Flames came out strong, hitting the ball hard and playing good defense.  They were abe to get their first win of the season 19-2.  In the second game ( B teams), the Dolphins were able to extract some revenge, winning 14-10.

Both teams played well and showed good sportsmanship.  Stay tuned as the season continues.
