Weekend sports wrap-up

It was a busy weekend for the Flames.  Two middle school teams participated in their season-ending tournament and the high school baseball played a home game.

The middle school girls' softball team saw their first action on Friday.  They played in 3 tournament games against some strong competition.  Even though this was the first time many of the girls had played they were excited to take the field.  The Flames struggled to keep pace with the high-powered offenses they faced and lost all 3 of their games, but the day started and ended with smiles and good sportsmanship. On Saturday morning the Flames played a must-win game in order to continue in the tournament.  It was a good game, but the lack of experience caught up with the team and they lost their early lead.  Even though they did not win any games the team had a great experience and made many good memories.

The middle school boys' A and B volleyball teams had high hopes for their tournament.  The A team came out strong but failed to capitalize in the early matches finishing the day with 0 wins and 2 losses.  The B team played very well but lost both of their matches in 3 sets.  Saturday started off great for both teams as they each won their first match of the tournament.  The A team had a chance to continue their winning ways but dropped a tough 3 set match to Marist to end their tournament.  The B team was able to continue their winning ways all the way to the championship match where they narrowly lost to the host Osaka Sabres.  Congratulations to all the teams for a great season.

The baseball team hosted the Marist Bulldogs in Joyo.  It was a great day for baseball.  The Flames fought hard to the very end, narrowly losing 11-9.  The team is gearing up for their tournament later this week.
